The Dean Randazzo Cancer Foundation Paddle For A Cause is entering its 13th year and this year is going to be the best ever. The 13th annual Paddle For A Cause is taking place on Saturday, June 13 at a new location, Ski Beach in Ventnor City, New Jersey. The event has been held for the past six years at The Golden Nugget in Atlantic City. The DRCF is hoping to expand the event to a larger audience with a new location and family friendly all day paddle party and awards celebration.
This year’s competition will include the full 22.5-mile race and a 6-mile race and fun paddle that is open to all willing participants. A team relay format is also available for the 22.5-mile race, but interested parties must secure a support boat in order to participate. The marquee 22.5-mile race kicks off at 8 a.m. and will be followed by the short course race and open fun paddle start at 10 a.m.
In addition to the paddling events The DRCF is hosting a day long family-fun party starting at noon at the bayside park at the eastern end of Dorset Avenue in Ventnor Heights. Guests are invited to cheer on the contestants as they cross the finish line. There will be games, food, a beer garden, face painting, crafts and live entertainment featuring local band The Liberi, following the Atlantic City-based indie trio Originaire who will be playing throughout the day. Children’s and beginners paddle instruction and short distance races will be held by the team at Harbour Outfitters.
Tickets to the all day paddle party and awards celebration are $25 for adults with free entrance for two children when accompanied by a paying adult. Tickets can be purchased through Eventbrite by visiting theDRCF.org or the Dean Randazzo Cancer Foundation Facebook Page. Tickets include food and entertainment. A cash bar beer garden for adults and a number of free and paid family activities will be available to guests throughout the day.
Registration is now open for the 13th annual Dean Randazzo Cancer Foundation Paddle For A Cause. The 22.5-mile and 6-mile races and fun paddles are open to stand-up and prone paddleboarders, in addition to competitors in other types of watercraft including outrigger canoes, surf-skis, kayaks and rowboats. The 22.5-mile race is designed to test competitors mentally and physically similar to someone battling cancer and should only be attempted by experienced paddlers. The 6-mile race and fun paddle are open to all who wish to participate.
All 22.5-mile and 6-mile paddlers are asked to raise or donate the $200 entry fee, proceeds from the event will go directly to local families and hospitals to help in the fight against cancer in our community. All paddlers get (1) entry into the paddle party as well as a t-shirt and swag bag. While fundraising is not mandatory we do ask that everyone setup a fundraising page on GoFundMe as well as register for the race on PaddleGuru using the steps outlined below. Credit card information is required to register on GoFundMe, cards will be charged the balance of the $200 registration fee minus the amount of funds raised (no charge if $200 threshold is met, full $200 charge if no funds are raised) Prizes will be awarded to top fundraisers and will be announced as the event draws closer. The races will be timed by divison and gender.

Become A Virtual Paddler
Follow the steps above but select “Virtual Paddler”
If you are unable to compete in any of the paddle events you can still get in on the action. Virtual Paddlers simply create a fundraising account on GoFundMe and help to raise money for the foundation. This is a great way for young children and those with physical limitations to help out a great cause. There is no minimum fundraising limit for Virtual Paddlers, but those who raise the minimum $200 entry fee will receive a swag bag race gear and after party ticket that is provided to all paddlers.
Donate To A Team Or Make A General Donation

Ski-Beach is located at the end of Dorset avenue, three blocks east of Wellington ave. (“Ski Beach, Bay Shore Blvd, Ventnor City, NJ 08406” in Google Maps)
All paddlers must arrive no later than 30 minutes before their scheduled start time
22.5 mile individuals and relay teams – Check in by 7:30 a.m.
6 – mile short course – Check in by 9:30 a.m.
The national anthem and a memorial tribute to those lost to cancer will take place 15 minutes before the start of each race. All paddlers are to be on the water at this time.
Street parking is available near Ski Beach, please be aware there is no parking on the event grounds or in the nearby Waterview or Crown Key Parking lots.
On-site Ticketing and Check-In
Spectator tickets are available at the entrance to Ski Beach, tickets purchased online can be redeemed for a wristband at this location. Paddler check in is located by the water entrance on the eastern edge of the park.
22.5-Mile Race (solo and team relay)
Registration / check-in 6:30 a.m. – 7:45 a.m.
Pre-paddle meeting for all paddlers will begin at 7:45 a.m.
Race Starts at 8:00 a.m.
Memorial Paddle Outs
All are invited to join and paddle out on a surfboard, paddleboard or anything that floats or simply watch from the dock to help honor or pay tribute to a friend or loved one and see the racers off at the start of each race. Each ceremony will begin at 15 minutes prior to the start of the race.
6-mile Short Course Race and Fun Paddle
Registration / Paddler check-in 8:15 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.
Pre-paddle meeting on the water at 9:45 a.m.
Paddle starts at 10:00 a.m.
Newer paddlers can join the 6-Mile paddle this event is a great way to support the cause for those that are new to the sport of paddling or those simply looking to have a good time with friends.
Prize money will be awarded to the following divisions if a presenting sponsor is secured before race day. Prize amounts and categories are subject to change.

This year we will be awarding trophies to the top three overall 6-mile race finishers. No prize money will be offered, but full bragging rights will be awarded for one calendar year.
Kayaks, Lifeguard boats and anything else you can paddle. Trophies will be awarded to open paddlers depending on the number of registrations received in the open category.
Please allow the faster racers to start first. Anyone in the open division not on an SUP or prone must start behind the racers. Thank you for your understanding.

All Day Paddle Party and Awards Celebration
Tickets are $25 at the door so encourage your friends, family and neighbors to come out and join the fun. The party is from 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Awards presentation 3:00 p.m.
Rooms are available at a number of local establishments.
There will be numerous support boats on the water for all paddlers. The support boats will have water and energy drinks on board. All paddlers are welcome to grab a drink. The boats are instructed to keep you hydrated and safe. If at any time you feel like you need a break please hop on to one of the boats who have volunteered to assist. You will know the support boats by the DRCF flags .
There will also be several wave runners on the ocean keeping track of paddlers and going between the boats and you. The operators will have bright yellow rash guards on. We will have two EMT’s on the water, one on a waverunner and one on a boat. Longport beach patrol will have a jet ski in the inlet at the Longport side. We will also be monitored by two US Coast Guard vessels and the State Police will be in the back Bay.
Residents with homes along paddle course Atlantic City, Ventnor, Margate and Longport are encouraged to show support the paddlers as they pass.

Alternate dates may be proposed in the event of COVID-19 related issue. All proceed benefit the Dean Randazzo Cancer Foundation and are utilized to provide financial relief to cancer victims, their families and local cancer centers.
