Proceeds To Benefit The Dean Randazzo Cancer Foundation
Jon Baker is once again putting his paintbrush to work to help the Dean Randazzo Cancer Foundation.
Baker will be joined by local artists for the second annual Art For A Cause, 5-9 p.m. Wednesday, July 19 at Heritage Surf and Sport, 9223 Ventnor Ave. in Margate. Entry is ‘free to this annual art showcase, that includes exclusive works of art, meet and greets with the artists and information about cancer awareness.
Although this is the second annual event, Baker, of Egg Harbor Township, is a longtime supporter of the Dean Randazzo Cancer Foundation as an ambassador to the board as well as a competitor in multiple events including the 22.5-mile Paddle For A Cause. The former board trustee designed the organization’s logo and has held events and donated portions of his art sales to the foundation throughout the years.
In addition to select works of art by Baker, wire sculptor and artist Jamie Kelly of Somers Point and Baker’s son, Noah Hurley Baker, will have pieces on display. A portion of art sale proceeds will benefit the foundation, a nonprofit organization that promotes cancer awareness in the surfing community and provides financial grants to assist people with cancer and local cancer centers.
At the event, the Dean Randazzo Cancer Foundation will hold a registration drive for its annual surf contest and beach party in Margate. Guests who register for the 17th annual Surf For A Cause at the event will receive a swag bag and be entered into a raffle for a surfboard. The 17th annual Surf For A Cause is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 9 at Decatur Avenue Beach in Margate.
In addition to light food and beverages, there will be surf movies and music throughout the evening.
