Prizes Include Surfboards By Brian Wynn And A Trip To Costa Rica
Surfers and fundraisers at the 17th annual Surf For A Cause will compete for top prizes including a weeklong trip to Costa Rica.
One high school senior in the class of 2018 who enters the Surf For A Cause Saturday, Sept. 9 in Margate will win a trip to Tamarindo, Costa Rica provided by the Cape May Surf Club.
The June 20 – 27, 2018 trip will take local surfers on a guided surfing excursion that includes board rental and lesson, airfare, hotel accommodations, meals and travel insurance.
In addition to trophies for the winners of each surfing division, there will also be prizes awarded to the top fundraisers in the Surf It Forward campaign. The adult and grom who raise the most funds will each win a custom-shaped surfboard by Brian Wynn. The second overall fundraiser will win an electric skateboard and third place will win an autographed Dean Randazzo surfboard from his personal collection. Anyone who raises $75 will receive a Surf It Forward hat, T-shirt and sticker.
Registration for the event, which will be conducted online only, is open to all ages and includes divisions for stand up paddleboard and longboard. Groms, boys 11 years and younger, and gromettes, girls 12 years and younger, can enter the contest for free. Entries are $50 per division, $15 for each additional division, and includes a ticket to the after party. The after party is 4 p.m. at Ventura’s Greenhouse. Tickets to the after party only are $30.
